Meet our Leadership

  • Lead Pastor - Corey Cornutt

Corey was born and raised in West Texas, attending a small six-man school named Highland.  He grew up in the middle of cotton fields, in which he spent many summer days working for family members.  He still enjoys the opportunity to ocassionally return to West Texas and enjoy a wide open starry night sky.  Corey received my Bachelor's Degree in Church Ministry from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and his Master's of Divinity through Logsdon Seminary at Hardin-Simmons.

Corey married his high-school sweetheart Cheryl in December of 2003, just months after he answered his first pastoral calling in Moran, Texas.  Cheryl is his best friend and my greatest encourager...who is also known to keep him honest.  He considers her a teammate both in life and in ministry.

In 2012, while Corey was serving as pastor in Bronte, Texas, he and Cheryl were blessed with their first child, Corban.  They were blessed with his two little brothers, Canon & Cai, while living here in Grandview in 2016 & 2018.  The three boys are full of energy and keep their parents on their toes.  Corey and Cheryl have enjoyed becoming a family and are excited to see what God has in store for their future in Grandview.

Corey has been serving Grandview as pastor since September of 2014.  He and Cheryl love the people of Grandview, and they believe that this church is poised to see great things happen for the Kingdom of God.

Corey enjoys spending time with my family; including playing the games at Chuck E. Cheese, sports, reading, good music, and good movies.  His favorite books are "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis and "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.  Corey enjoy all types of music but have found myself listening mainly to folk music along with praise and worship lately.  And Corey's favorite movie is "The Shawshank Redemption."

  • Pastor of Students & Worship - Eric Waits

Eric was born in Fort Worth, Texas and was raised in East Texas. His family moved shortly after he was born to a little community in East Texas called Holly Lake. Before his family  moved to Cleburne, Eric completed his junior year at Harmony High School. It was shortly after when he started working for David’s Supermarket. Eric loved Grandview so much that he attended and graduated from Grandview High School for his senior year. Eric have recently received his bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He looks forward to getting his master’s degree in the near future.

Eric is married to his best friend and partner in crime, Bailey Waits. They married on March 23rd, 2008. They have 2 kids (Brice and Rylee) full of life and energy that love to serve the Lord. Eric and his family are excited to see what God does through them!

Some of Eric's hobbies include fishing, hunting, playing video games, and hanging out with family. Eric loves the outdoors so when he gets a chance to convey Gods wondrous landscape, he takes full advantage of it. Also, Eric thoroughly enjoy reading. His favorite book is “Becoming a Contagious Christian” by Bill Hybels. Eric loves music in general but mostly listens to country and praise and worship. Eric is a self-described huge dork when it comes to movies . . . especially The Avengers, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings.

  • Minister to Children & Families - Lindsay Farmer

Lindsay grew up in Alvarado, TX, where she met her husband, David. She attended Tarleton State University and majored in Interdisciplinary Studies. Upon graduation, she began her career in Education as a 1st grade teacher. She later moved to Physical Education and enjoyed that position for 10 years.

Lindsay worked in Education for 12 years before joining the staff at FBC Grandview as the Minister to Children and Families in February of 2022. She has always loved children, teaching, and Jesus, so the call to Ministry was an exciting opportunity! David and Lindsay have 3 children, Weston, Lyla, and Eleanor, who keep them very busy. From school to church to sports, they are always on the go. They have lived in Grandview since 2017 and have attended FBC Grandview since 2020.

Lindsay grew up in the church and has always enjoyed serving in the children’s department in whatever capacity is needed. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was seven years old and has spent her life growing in her faith and in her relationship with Jesus.

When not at church, Lindsay and her family enjoy spending time together, whether at home, the ball fields, or Walt Disney World-they love being together!

  • Childcare Coordinator - Julie Swift

Around here at FBC, Julie is known as Miss Julie, Miss Juju, or JuJu.

Julie joined FBC in 1999. In 2007, she joined the staff as a nursery attendant. In 2013, she became the Childcare Coordinator. Julie loves the challenge of reaching and teaching kids at FBC. God has allowed her to experience total reliance on Him as He provides the volunteers and resources each week to take care of the growing numbers of preschool children as our church works to love them and point them to Jesus.

God has blessed Julie with many opportunities to learn from kids…. they are great teachers! As most teachers know, teaching kids is an adventure that changes you forever! There is never a dull moment and always a long list of needs to be met from infants and preschool!

Julie grew up in Cleburne, TX and became a Christian at the age of 8. At the age of 14, she started helping in the nursery with babies and preschoolers. God blessed Julie during this time to work with many children and to be able to share with kids the love of Christ.

Julie is one of the longest tenured staff members at FBC and has been a fixture in the lives of our members for generations.

  • Children's Day Out Director - Ashli Mayse

Ashli was born and raised in Cameron, Missouri. She earned her bachelor’s

degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City in Communication

Studies with an emphasis in interpersonal and public relations. It was during

her time traveling with her parents drag racing that she met her husband

Rustin — a connection that would one day lead her to Texas and a shared life filled with faith, family and community.

Before joining the Children’s Day Out program, Ashli worked as the HR

Manager at KMP Plumbing, Heating & Air from 2013 to 2017. She later

found her true calling in early childhood education. She first started teaching at CDO in 2017, then after taking a short break to focus on family, she stepped into her current role as the CDO Director in 2022. Ashli and Rustin have three wonderful children — Brady, Brynli and Bristol — who keep life busy, joyful and full of purpose.

Although she didn’t grow up attending church regularly, Ashli’s life was

transformed through her journey of faith here at First Baptist Church

Grandview. It was at FBC that she came to know Christ personally and was

baptized in 2016, surrounded by her church family who have supported and

encouraged her along the way. Her walk with the Lord continues to deepen as she leads and serves the children and families of the CDO program.

Outside of work and ministry, Ashli loves supporting her husband and kids in all their activities, whether it is sports, academics, church, hunting or drag racing. Ashli enjoys working out, playing volleyball and traveling near and far to discover good coffee and unique food wherever she goes. Although she stays busy, her greatest joy comes from spending time with family and sharing life’s everyday moments together.

  • Assistant Worship Director - Courtney Firebaugh

Courtney Firebaugh was born and raised in Garland, Texas.  She grew up attending First Baptist Church of Richardson, where her love for Jesus and music grew through the church’s various discipleship and music programs.  Jesus took hold of her heart while she was in kindergarten, and she placed her faith in Him and was baptized that year.  She received her own personal hymnal in 1st grade as a reward for hymn memorization and she still enjoys playing out of that same hymnal today!

After high school, Courtney attended Baylor University, majoring in Secondary Math Education.  While at Baylor, she was a part of the Baylor Religious Hour Choir where she was a vocalist and accompanist to a tight-knit Christian community of musicians.  She was able to travel to Belize, South Africa, and Nicaragua on mission trips and serve and sing around the world and Texas with the choir.

Courtney was accepted into the Teach for America program and taught math at H. Grady Spruce High School after completing her bachelor's degree.  From there, Courtney’s career path has taken her through various ages and stages of Public Education, Corporate Training Design at Dow Chemical, and Music & Children’s Ministry as she lived in Dallas, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Lake Jackson, and Canton, TX.

In 2022, Courtney married Tyler Firebaugh, blending their two families, and moved to Grandview, TX.  Courtney has a daughter, Madison, and two bonus daughters, Ember and Alexcis, who all keep her busy and she is so grateful to be able to care for them.  From 2023-2026, Courtney was the Science & Music Teacher at CDO and has loved being able to meet so many Grandview families by loving on their youngest kiddos and teaching them about God’s beautiful creation!

Courtney is excited to serve as the Assistant Worship Director at First Baptist Church as Jesus and Music were her first loves!  She is grateful for the opportunity to lead an incredible worship team and looks forward to expanding the music ministry to include new music opportunities for children, youth, and adults!  Stay tuned!
